Senior Data Engineer
Remote – LATAM
About the Project
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a greenfield initiative focused on turning an existing proof of concept into a production-grade data product.
The project involves building a reliable data pipeline and data service that will provide cyber risk insights to brokers in Asian markets, helping them make better-informed decisions when preparing quotes for underwriters.
You’ll work closely with Data Science and Data Engineering teams, taking an existing POC and evolving it into a scalable, reliable, and maintainable solution.
What you’ll do
Design, build, and productionize robust data pipelines using Python and Airflow.
Transform an existing Data Science POC into a reliable, maintainable production solution.
Build and maintain data processing workflows, including scheduling, retries, validations, and regression checks.
Work with PostgreSQL to design efficient schemas, queries, views, and data access patterns.
Build the data access layer using GraphQL and, over time, Hasura.
Collaborate closely with Data Scientists to integrate and operationalize existing NLP/LLM-based components.
Ensure reliable and consistent data delivery on a recurring cadence.
Work with AWS-based infrastructure and understand how services, orchestration, storage, and connectivity fit together.
Collaborate with SRE and Engineering teams on deployment and production-related needs.
Take ownership of technical decisions and independently drive work from requirements to production.
Tech Stack You’ll Use
Core: Python, PostgreSQL, Apache Airflow, GraphQL
Infrastructure & Data: AWS, S3, Redis, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, GitHub Actions
Additional technologies: Hasura, SQLAlchemy, Liquibase/Flyway
What we’re looking for
Strong professional experience in Data Engineering.
Advanced proficiency in Python, especially for data pipelines and data processing.
Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow in production environments.
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database fundamentals.
Experience working with cloud environments, ideally AWS.
Basic DevOps knowledge and the ability to understand infrastructure, deployment, and connectivity concepts.
Experience with GraphQL, or a strong foundation that allows you to ramp up quickly.
Ability to work autonomously, make technical decisions, and take ownership of solutions.
Comfortable collaborating with Data Scientists and other cross-functional technical teams.
Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools and an interest in using them as part of the development workflow.
Experience with Hasura, cybersecurity data, or data-as-a-product environments is a plus.
English level B2 or higher, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international team.
What you’ll get
Time off & well-being: vacations fully flexible and self-managed, sick leave and personal days, public holidays, paternity and maternity leave, study leave, and moving days.
Learning & growth: training in best practices and tech, books and light talks, in-house English classes, continuous feedback, and 1:1 career development sessions.
Work experience: flexible working hours, equipment and work materials provided, internal events and team activities, and a day off on your birthday.
Contract & setup: 100% remote positions across LATAM, under a contractor model with payment in USD.
